Prague, July 2006

This year McBear & Roger went to Prague as Roger had read about the splendor of the mediaeval Czech architecture. In the airport security check we were put on trays and had to go through the x-rays as usual.
- It's an outrage! McBear gave out. - x-rays are dangerous and people can see our stuffing and stitches and all! If people had to be scanned like us, the monitors would show their ribs, skull - and even teeth fillings!

Holding a Master of Arts, Roger was keen to study architecture, and we stopped at the Rudolfinum, home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
- What are all the thingies sticking out everywhere, McBear wanted to know.
- THINGIES?!?!?! Roger gave out. - They are handmade ornaments ... it's ART! But then again, how could you know? Holding a Master of Science you know more about pistons, cogwheels and Intel processors!!
- He he! McBear giggled. - You are easy to wind up and it works every time!

Prague, July 2006

Prague is situated at the River Vlata. From the brink we could see the Prague Castle in the horizon and we wished to visit it.

Boy, it was tough climbing all the way to the castle. The entrance was guarded by Czech soldiers.
- It must be hard standing there in the heat all day, Roger said. - Maybe we should offer him some iced tea or a coca cola.

From the wall of the castle we had a great view of Prague. In the horizon we could see the viewing tower made in the days of communism in Czechoslovakia.

Prague, July 2006

To get back to the city centre, we crossed the famous Carl's Bridge made in mediaeval times.
- You can see that the statues are much younger than the bridge itself, Roger explained. - The statues are far too fine and un-damaged.

At the old city square Roger got all excited to see the various old buildings.
- Wauvvv! He said. - Just look at all the different architectural styles: Some are gothic, some are early renaissance and some are high renaissance!
- What's so wauvv about that? McBear asked and started to tease Roger again.

Prague, July 2006

At the square flocks of tourists gathered to study the famous old clock which is said to be built as an astronomical clock. Having studied astrology in Oxford, both McBear and Roger wished to examine this.

To get a better look we climbed a stand.
- This is weird, Roger said. - If the clock is astronomical, the Sun should not be positioned in mid-Cancer as is the case today, the 6th of July!
- You are quite right! McBear agreed. - The clock is showing a tropical zodiac, not a sidereal zodiac, and therefore it's an astrological clock!

Prague, July 2006

The last night we were invited to a fine restaurant, the Hergetova Cihelna. In front of the restaurant was a sculpture.
- How come people passing by stop and start giggling as soon as they see the statues? Roger asked of curiousity.
- I presume, McBear started, - that all species have their mind focused on reproduction whether it's publicly accepted or not. In our case it's a bit the opposite though, I mean, which bear have their mind focused on bear factories and sewing machines ...?

We joined Frances and Poul having a lovely dinner. McBear was stunned and his ears started to quiver from excitement as the dessert was served: Vanilla ice cream with hot rasberries! Yummi! And even though Roger believes ice cream is not good for your figure, he couldn't resist, so we shared a huge dessert!
