The Travelling Bears

A few days after the dreadful events in New York and Washington we went to Donegal and stayed at a lovely Bed & Breakfast near Killybegs. Notice Roger's new suit. He was very fond of it.

As you can see, this was before Tom, Barnaby, Bamse and Irving joined us.

Achill Island, Easter 2002

We had a great Easter tour to Achill Island all 8 of us (this was before Irving's time). It was Bamse's first trip around Ireland. Here we are at Lake Acorrymore on the hillside of the mountain Croaghaun.

Grange Stonecircle, May 2002

We all went to Cork and Mizen Head in May. On our way back from Cork, McBear, Roger and Olivia went to visit the famous Grange Stonecircle, the largest of ancient stonecircles in Ireland. It has around 113 stones!

Clonmacnoise, May 2002

Roger went to visit Clonmacnoise, the famous ancient monastry in the heart of Ireland. Behind Roger is a roundtower and a couple of the famous highcrosses. Notice the blue River Shannon in background and the lovely green fields

Castletown House, May 2002

Roger also went to visit Castletown House, once the finest big house in Ireland. Roger believes that people of his quality ought to live in places like Castletown House.

Achill Island, August 2002

Barnaby and Roger went to Achill Island, and they excavated the Deserted Village. This place dates back to the Great Famine in the mid 18 hundreds. Here, we are taking a break from the work, meditating at the view of Minaun and its cliffs.

As a Scorpio Barnaby loves to dig deep, so he's thinking of becoming an archaeologist.

Ireland's Eye, July 2003

In July 2003 McBear, Roger, Tom and Bamse went on a visit to Ireland's Eye just off the coast north of Dublin. We had to be careful not to disturb the terns and other large birds as they might attack intruders. Tom was hyper as this was yet another place for him to become a tour leader of. McBear has seen vulcanos in Peru, and he's convinced that the rocks of Ireland's Eye is a result of vulcanic activity.

Lough Crewe Cairn, Co. Meath, April 2004

Tom & Barnaby were all excited to learn about the pagan megalithic site of Lough Crew in County Meath. Here, there is a stone carving of what could turn out to be the oldest map of the Moon ever. Barnaby wanted to do some excavations, but Tom said the resting bear spirits didn't like to be disturbed.

Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, April 2004

We went to Enniscorthy in County Wexford. This is a town particularly famous for its part in the 1798 rebellion against the British. McBear, being an Aquarius, was thrilled about the ideals of Liberty, Eguality and Brotherhood, while Roger, on the other hand, being a Leo, disapproved of all this riot chaos and disorder.
- Nothing's wrong with being loyal to royalty, Roger says.
Tom rushed with a proposal of moving on before the two opposite opinions started arguing.

Lough Key Forest Park, Co. Roscommon, May 2004

Olivia loves flowers, and she had heard of Lough Key Forest Park way west in Roscommon. So we did a tour to the park and enjoyed the millions of Bluebells. Angus and Erasmus, who had gone to Wexford with McBear, Roger and Tom the previous weekend, had not had their photo taken, so they had the right to be on the tour to Lough Key. McBear approves the principle of equal rights. Roger thinks it's pointless nonsense.
